Khudian villagers said, including Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Sadiq, Saleem and Nasir, said that the village located 15 kilometres from the city and about 5,000 people lived there. They disclosed that influential people had illegally occupied ponds and as a result, dirty water was overflowing the streets.
They said that several applications were submitted to high-ups and demonstrations were staged to raise the issue, but to no avail. They added that several schemes were prepared to dispose of dirty water, but only on papers. “People have blocked dirty water from all sides, which is now overflowing streets. Hundreds of students and women face troubles while crossing streets covered with dirty water and filth,” they maintained.
They added that several applications were submitted to the district administration and politicians belonging to NA-140 and PP-179, but no any action could be taken in this regard. They alleged that former MNA Sardar Assef Ahmad Ali and MPA Sardar Muhammad Hussain Dogar had done nothing to their problem, which had put their lives at risk. They said that dirty water and filth have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies, exposing the people to high risk of malaria and dengue. They demanded Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif look into the matter and order the department concerned immediately make arrangements for the disposal of dirty water so that they could live with their families in the village.
