Kasur by-polls result

KASUR: Election Commission returning officer declared PML-N backed-candidate Malik Rasheed Ahmad Khan winner in NA-140 by-polls with a margin of 89 votes while runner-up Dr Azeemuddin Lukhvi boycotted the result and decided to move court against the result.
Earlier, the returning officer had suspended the result for recounting and the recounting of the rejected voters was started at about 2pm in presence of runner-up candidate Dr Azeemuddin Lukhvi, Malik Rasheed Ahmad Khan, PPP Sarwar Dogar and others at the district council hall.
Later, Lukhvi left the hall and boycott the process of recounting and the election result. Talking to journalist, he alleged that the election officer did not adopt the procedure as per his demand. He said he would move court or the election commission for justice and against the recounting procedure. According to District Election Returning Officer Tahir Mansoor, Malik Rasheed Ahmad Khan got 47,295 votes (winner) and Azeemuddin Lukhvi got 47206 votes. The supporters of Malik Rasheed Ahmad took out rallies to celebrate the victory. Sources told The News that Azeemuddin Lukhvi disclosed that he was submitting applications to court or election commission for the suspension of the result. It is also learnt that Lukhvi is going to join a political party.

In the first incident, the couple was burnt to death as car caught fire on G.T. road near Gojar Khan.

Double murder

KASUR: Relatives of two brothers, who were murdered by their former brother-in-law at Mahalm Khurd village, blocked Lahore-Kasur Road against the Ganda Singhwala police for not arresting the killers.
